Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Udham Singh Nagar organized an enlightening awareness session on “The Negative Impacts of Social Media” for the students of Classes IX and X, with an aim to foster digital well-being and promote responsible online behavior.The session was led by Dr. Navpreet Bhathal, Head Psychologist at BVM USN , who effectively highlighted the psychological and emotional consequences of excessive social media usage. Through an engaging and interactive approach, she initiated a thought-provoking dialogue on how constant digital exposure can disrupt concentration, affect mental health, disturb sleep cycles, lower self-esteem and strain interpersonal relationships.
Incorporating real-life examples, case studies and participative activities, Dr. Bhathal emphasized the urgent need for students to strike a healthy balance between their virtual engagements and real-life interactions. She sensitized the students with the hidden dangers of digital over-dependence and the pursuit of online validation , encouraging them to cultivate mindful and disciplined digital habits.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, making it both impactful and reflective.
Principal Mrs Seema Gupta appreciated the initiative and advised students to use social media wisely, urging them to channel their energies into meaningful, creative and constructive pursuits that foster personal growth.
