In the Beginning

A Sacred Covenant with the Nation

Every great institution begins with a shared act of conviction. On 17 December 1968, eleven citizens of Ludhiana joined hands to establish Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Trust and place education, values and nation-building above personal comfort.

Educators, physicians, advisors, librarians, advocates, businessmen and industrialists came together with one luminous belief: a strong India must be built upon character-driven education deeply rooted in its culture and equally prepared for the modern world.

From a modest beginning at Malerkotla House, Cemetery Road, the movement grew through purposeful simplicity, public service and an unwavering commitment to the holistic development of every child.

1968 The Founding Vision

Why This Council Was Remarkable

The founding council brought together a deliberate cross-section of Ludhiana's productive society. Their diversity became a statement in itself: education belongs to all, is enriched by all, and must serve all.

They invested professional experience, social standing and personal conviction into one common purpose — giving future generations a stronger intellectual and moral foundation.

We Are the Continuation of Their Dream

Their fortitude is our foundation. Their vision is our compass. Their names live not merely in a founding document, but in every classroom, every teacher and every child whose life is touched by Bhartiya Vidya Mandir.
